Hand carved and vibrantly painted on two wood panels, this magnolia painting was inspired by chance, when the artist walks past a seemingly ordinary terrace near the Carriage Works on Abercrombie Street in Redfern, Sydney.
It was a chilled and sunny winter morning with a light breeze. The perfectly bloomed magnolia petals reflected the warm morning sun, while the gentle movement of the buds and branches cast ever changing and moving shadows on the building behind.
An unexpected encounter on an ordinary Saturday morning. There was even a butterfly in the midst of the quiet drama. Can you see it?
