Gina Haywood is a Hobart based artist who majored in Printmaking at the National Art School in Sydney, graduating in 2000. Since then she has exhibited work in Australia, USA and Hong Kong and has been a finalist in art prizes such as the Jacaranda Acquisitive Drawing Award, the City of Hobart Art Prize and the Hutchins Art Prize. Her work extends across the disciplines of drawing, printmaking and painting and focuses on nature illuminated by cast light. Gina is currently working towards a solo show of charcoal drawings in 2014.
Gina’s hyper-realistic charcoal paintings are nothing short of spectacular to behold. The artist works tirelessly for hours to create detailed large-scale renderings of flora throughout different stages of life and decay.
