Robyn Kirk

Born in country Queensland, now based in Brisbane.

Prior to starting her own design and art advising business in recent

years, her artistic eye has always compelled her to paint and draw.

Studies at Queensland College of Art, Brisbane Institute of Art and

Brisbane Academy of Art and private tutoring, have given her the

skills and she now describe herself as a self developed

multidisciplinary artist. Her works are expressions with oil and acrylic

paint on canvas and board, combined with a variety of other drawing

materials, ranging from charcoal and crayon to pencils, and for more

texture, fingers and hands. This tactile labour-intensive process

reveals her stories with an element of surprise.

While sketching and painting have always played a major part in her

life, owning the gallery made the purpose more real. Being

surrounded by art, artists and the like was a huge incentive, of late.

During the process of running, curating and owning White Canvas

Gallery, in Fortitude Valley, for a period of 8 years, until 2016, a

number of works were produced, exhibited and sold.

She has exhibited in solo and several group exhibitions, received

awards for competition work and she is now represented in corporate

and private collections.

Colour and design flow is paramount in her work and has instigated

some larger abstract works. These are an extension of her strong

portrait capability and the need to express more. Away from abstract

her work is mostly figurative and deals with people or birds and
