I am right in the middle of installing my latest Public Art Project for the City of Canada Bay Laneways project and my mind has kept reminiscing about the first major Public Art installation I curated - WE ARE HERE in March 2013.
WE ARE HERE was commissioned by the City of Sydney for its' Streetware program and was a mammoth undertaking, not only was it 50 metres long it was 3 stories high, think scissor lifts, electrical wires and road closures.
The artwork was one work collaboratively executed by 5 different artists in a very short time frame. The artists worked across various mediums, paint, spray paint, stencil, mixed media, drawing, stencils and photography.
The mural was unveiled by Lord Mayor Clover Moore in March 2013 in collaboration with Art Month. Read about the story of the artwork HERE. Here is a video of the artwork.
Let's enjoy a trip down memory lane and see some of the un-published, behind the scenes shots of the working progress on We Are Here.
